BA-0200: Negotiation on Behalf of the School Board
The Superintendent is delegated the responsibility for contract negotiations on behalf of the School Board with such organizations as may be recognized by the Board as negotiating agents for any of the various subdivisions of the staff and employees. He/she is authorized to designate a qualified individual as chief negotiator.
The Superintendent and/or the designated chief negotiator will keep the Board informed of proposals made by the negotiating agents and/or groups and will advise and consult with the School Board to secure direction on the negotiation of such proposals. The School Board has final authority to accept or reject all negotiated terms of labor contracts.
Rationale: It is the responsibility of the School Board to decide what is provided to whom and at what cost. The School Board is responsible for sound fiscal management of its resources.
